Binyeo (비녀)
Hair accessories were a form of expressing oneself in the past like it is today, but hair pins like the binyeo were used to show ones social status as well.
A binyeo is a long hair pin that can be made with different type of metals and precious stones, and shapes. They were primarily used by women to hold up braided hair buns, and were also used by men to adorn their topknot prior to the Joseon Dynasty.
In the modern day setting, a binyeo can be worn for special occasions with hanbok or incorporated into casual daily fashion.
