Everything is going smoothly, but something feels like it's missing...
OH .
You forgot to take the mothers shopping for their dresses! You rush to the department store in hopes to find a dress to fit the wedding theme and colors. The styles of dresses they have are aplenty, but none of them quite suits the style of your mother and future mother-in-law.
What would you do?
Unfortunately, this is the situation of a handful of our hanbok clients. We're here to help though! Though there are more options when you make an appointment with ample time, we do have hanbok that can be purchased off the rack. Need ideas for how to have the mothers match? Take a look at some of our customers here:
1. Identical blue and red jeogori tops with matching chima skirts
The most classic approach to choosing hanbok design and colors for the mothers!
General rule of thumb: Blue hues for the mother of the groom and pink hues for the mother of the bride. Purple hues works for both mothers! (You don't have to follow this rule, but it's a common pattern in weddings!)
2. Color coordinate hanbok dress and neckties
A fun approach to weddings when only one side of the family wears hanbok. In this case, there is less "restriction" and expectation on what color the mother of the bride or groom should wear.
3. Identical blue and purple flower chima skirts and same jeogori top
The mothers are wearing modern flower printed chima skirts to match the flower concept of the wedding and the rustic venue. They bring the look together by wearing identical jeogori tops.
4. Matching jeogori tops with pink and blue hue chima skirts
Wearing the same jeogori tops create uniformity, especially when the jeogori tops have intricate designs! The pastel colors are also an option as opposed to traditional vibrant hanbok colors.
5. Blue theme for mother of the groom
The mother of the groom's creative take by wearing a combination of different blue colors instead of pairing blue with white or purple. Mothers have just as much freedom to be creative with hanbok as they do with western dresses! Add embroidery, applique, norigae, etc.
